Day 20 of things nicht echt
10:36 Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006

I have much reason to believe that even the honey here is imitation. According to, I believe it was, a Snapple cap, honey is the only food that doesn't spoil/expire. But just now we were eating a zhong zi (and over here they like to put sugar or honey on them) and it had been covered in bad honey. I was already grossed out because first of all, it was watery, and second, the bottle had stuff on the bottom that did not look like it came from honey, since it was a red brownish color. I was already suspicious before when my aunt was telling one of her relatives how weird the honey is in America, because it's so thick and such, and I told her that's what it's like when it comes out of the comb, but she refused to believe it and insisted that something had been added to make it that way...but I think this proves that there's something off about the honey here. Perhaps they water it down or add some other liquid to it so that there's more..or it could be downright fake. Who knows? Honey manufacturers, I suppose. Or another theory is that the bees here are weaksauce. haha. But I don't think that would cause the honey to go bad.
