Day 11 of the chillaxin' 17:47 Tuesday, Aug. 01, 2006 I experienced my first digestive problem since getting here two days ago. haha. I think it was the mango boba milktea. That place was very dirty so I'm not surprised. Good thing Chinese meds are plentiful because that's really the only medicine I ever take. Teehee. That and my allergy medicine, which I love because it makes my giant skeeter bites swell down. Many ABCs that have been to Asia know what I mean... Those gigantic bites that are like the size of your fist and then they turn all bubbly. Yeah, I know it's disgusting. Anywho, I got my badminton rackets yesterday! Yay-uhh. My uncle and I chose all the components...well, he did most of the choosing. I only selected the handle color, which I didn't put much thought into because really...a bubblegum pink handle and poop green do not go together. When I opened the bag I started laughing. My other racket is gold with a blue handle, which looks pretty BAMF. If I really don't like the pink and green, my aunt says she'll trade me for a gold one with a black handle, but I don't know... there were only three choices for handle colors and I just had to pick the two less plain ones. It's pretty unique, I must say. I played mahjong with some family members for a couple days. I pretty much owned. hahaha jk. I don't know what I'm doing when I'm playing, but my uncle said that people who don't really know how to play usually win the most, which I did, so there you go. I went shopping today at this place called MeiFeng. I got me one of those unbreakable bottles because I left my old one at work and I assume they threw it away. I was quite sad because it was green and sexy, but I have a cuter green one now. Oowee. I also bought a few things to use in the dorms next year, all green of course. Bahaha. And I got a couple boxes of my new favorite snack. It's called Pejoy and it's from the people who make Pocky. Basically, it is inside-out Pocky. The chocolate is inside instead of outside but it's the same size stick. It's not like those tube things that are covered with chocolate inside but there's also hollowness. It's just all compacted chocolatey goodness. I have this other snack I got last time I went to the store called Collon. I thought it was funny because of the way the snack looks and the name, even though there's an extra letter, if you know what I mean. I'll have to post up a picture. It's especially funny because I picked the chocolate one. haha. Oh and this morning, we went to this marketplace... It's kind of like what we would call a farmer's market, I guess. People set up at these stands and sell veggies, fruit, meat and seafood. It was pretty disgusting and smelly, especially when I got splashed with fish water. And my flipflops got soaked with nasty. I had to walk very carefully because flipflops are so slippery. I would've started crying if I had slipped and fell into that dirty water and whatever else contributes to that smell. haha. It's really the best way to shop for fresh food, though, and all I can say is that I'm very sheltered where I come from. hehe. Even though I've experienced this a few times before today, it's just kind of cool to shop around like they do. I remember last time I went with my sister and aunts, this lady butcher person was chopping meat in like a prom dress. It was so funny and has forever been etched in our minds. And also, I've noticed that my aunts are quite popular everywhere we go. One of my aunts hasn't been here for two years and yet she still gets stopped very often whenever we go out. Yesterday, my aunt was like, "Let's go hiking!" In Chinese,the way they say it is literally "climb mountain," so I figured there'd be dirt and bugs and nature, etc., but it was this mountain with some Buddhist stuff here and there and a pagoda at the top and lots of stairs to climb. So I guess their version of hiking is a little different. Oh boy, it's starting to rain again. It rained a couple days last week. I kind of liked it because it wasn't as hot and it didn't really rain that hard so it didn't inconvenience us much, but this rain is scary and thunderous.
