Poem is where the heart is. Ho ho!
03:44 Wednesday, Jul. 12, 2006

HA..I found this poem I scribbled for sophomore English in high school. What happened to the days when I could spit out a poem within minutes? I had to follow the guidelines for the assignment...I think it had to do with repetition or something...so it sounds kind of lame but whatever, I got full credit. Alright, here we go:

REFLECTION
Saw you looking at me
I saw you watching me
Big brown eyes
Innocent yet harmful
Why do people like you hurt people like me?
You try to trust with a closed heart
You want people to care but no one knows
No one even knows who you are.
I watch you while you're dying inside
You don't accept my helping hand

Noticed you looking back at me
I saw you watching me
Those big brown eyes are full of tears
You tell me that you hate me
No idea how much that hurts
It seems colder lately at night
'Cause you've become colder inside
I've tried and I've tried to tell you
Learn to love, learn to trust
But you don't listen to me.

Yowzah, that was deep, wasn't it? hahaha. That's probably a pretty generic poem. I don't really form attachments to poetry (I used to write, but that was quite rare), because there's too much that goes into it. You read it a couple times and then look for the symbolism and then gather your ideas and try to figure out what the author is saying. At least, this is what I've learned from high school and really, it's just exhausting. I like things to be simple. I like people to just say what they mean. And even when I do have a hankerin' for symbol-findin', I like to form my own opinion of what a poem is saying, not what the teacher dictates. I don't think this can be escaped in any learning institution, though.

PS I borrowed a couple lines from songs that I was listening to before I did the assignment. Teehee. Please don't sue me.
