"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."
--Tenzin Gyatso [His Holiness, the Dalai Lama]

We should exercise kindness and compassion. Compassion is not to be confused with pity. Compassion is something that comes from within and you really just want to help someone. It doesn't mean you help someone just because you feel bad for them. It also isn't so that you can feel good about yourself. Maybe you will feel good, but that isn't the purpose.

"Human happiness and human satisfaction must ultimately come from within oneself. It is wrong to expect some final satisfaction to come from money or from a computer."
--HH Dalai Lama

HAHAHA. Sigh. Stupid computers.

He says that from some perspectives, Buddhism can be seen as not as a religion but as a science of mind. Sounds cool. :] Peace out, playahs :P
